The Irish Draught Horse Society of Canada recently learned of the passing of Katharine Locke our long time member and Nova Scotia Irish Draught breeder. IDHSC offers condolences to Katharine's family, friends, and those influenced by Katharine's passion for the Irish Draught.

I am saddened to hear about Katherine’s passing. She was a steadfast supporter of the Irish Draught breed and was passionate about her horses and breeding program. My condolences to all her friends and family.

Katharine was a strong horsewoman who left no doubt her deep passion for the preservation of the foundation lines of the Irish Draught. She fought a very long battle against cancer yet it was still a surprise to learn of her passing. Her contribution to the breed will continue for generations through the progeny of her breeding program.
